Briar Hill Primary School
Briar Hill is a place where children from all backgrounds and with a diverse range of abilities and needs can explore, enquire and achieve. It is a focal point for a multicultural community, where it serves as a cornerstone of support.
The school prides itself on going above and beyond for its children and community, and is consistently recognised by external agencies for this, recently achieving the Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship status for its commitment to inclusion and wellness.
The school is high-performing, with results that are consistently above the national average and improving every year. It is proud to be rated as the best school in Northampton and the second best school in Northamptonshire by the Good Schools Guide, but asserts that while results are important, making sure pupils are happy at school is equally key.
In a school survey conducted at the end of the year, 100 per cent of pupils reported that they “love” attending Briar Hill, and 100 per cent of staff also reported being happy in their job. Leaders see it as “more than a school”, stating that their “impact truly extends beyond the classroom and into the everyday life of our community”.
Judge Dame Alison Peacock said: “I loved the fact that the application talked about it being a warm, welcoming and loving school, I don’t think we have enough loving schools. They seem to be doing a lot that’s really good.”
