Northampton’s Briar Hill Primary School launches careers club

Northampton’s Briar Hill Primary School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has launched an exciting new careers club to help pupils look beyond life at primary school.

The weekly lunchtime club, which was officially launched this week, aims to help Year 6 pupils prepare for their transition to secondary school and allow them to find out more about potential future careers.

Each week, teachers will encourage pupils to think about the types of careers that interest them and how their studies could help them to land their dream job.

Janey Cooksley, Headteacher at Briar Hill Primary School, said: “At Briar Hill Primary School, we inspire our pupils to aim high and encourage them to reach their full potential.

“Our new weekly careers club is very important to us, as it helps our pupils to understand how the skills they are learning within the classroom can be applied to working life.

“We hope to invite a number of guest speakers into the school to help our pupils consider careers they might not have thought about before.

As part of the David Ross Education Trust, Briar Hill Primary School is committed to providing every child with a world-class education. An education that creates academically gifted, confident, well-rounded young people in the classroom, in the workplace and in their communities.
